All of our products carry a minimum 12 month return to base warranty and our LED ranges carry 2, 3, & 5 year warranties, please check the product page for the exact warranty on a particular item.

Due to certain legislation halogen lamps are no longer included in any of our products as standard. If the light fitting is a dedicated low energy then some ranges are supplied with compact fluorescent lamps, please refer to the product page for further details. If the light fitting is listed as an LED product, this then contains and integrated LED light source, further item specific details can be found on the product page by clicking on the specification data tab or by downloading the datasheet PDF document, which is also located on the product page on our website.

Yes, the majority of our products are suitable for LED or low energy fluorescent lamps. Inspired Lighting have a vast selection of Luxram lamps that can be retro-fit into most of our light fittings, further details on our full lamp range can be found by following clicking on the tab Lamps & Bulbs on our website. When looking at a product on the website we do also suggest suitable lamps for the product and list them on the product page of each item.

The brightness of light bulbs is measured in Lumens, which is a measure of a light's luminous power. Low energy bulbs can be just as bright as standard incandescent bulbs with a fraction of the power/wattage. The lumens value is listed in the product specifications table where applicable. As a guide please see below for a simple comparison of lumens v wattage of traditional incandescent lamps.

Incandescent Lumens (Brightness) LED Watts CFL Watts
25W 200-300lm 2-3W 3-5W
40W 400–500lm 4-5W 7-9W
60W 650-850lm 6-7W 9-11W
100W 1000-1200lm 8-10W 15-18W

This depends on the type of transformer/driver in the light fitting if there is one built into the product. It has to specifically be a dimmable transformer/driver and usually a trailing edge dimmer module is required. For light fittings without drivers/transformers then dimmable lamps must be used and a compatible dimmer switch to ensure a smooth dimming effect and to maintain the life of the lamps being dimmed. Often if using dimmable LED lamps they will not work correctly with a traditional dimmer switches due to the minimum load of the dimmer not being met, you can upgrade to a LED dimmer module/switch to cope with low electrical loads.

Exact dimming capabilities of a product are in the specification section of the product details page for each item.

We would always recommend consulting a qualified electrician if you are in any doubt as to the suitability of a light fitting and the use of a dimmer switch.

There are many benefits that can be achieved from using LED technology, here are just a few of them :-

An immediate reduction in your electricity bill.

Less heat because LED fixtures are extremely efficient converting electricity into light.

They do not contain mercury or other hazardous materials.

LED Bulbs last a very long time, typically 15,000 to 50,000 hours so no maintenance or lamp replacement costs.

More and more products are dimmable.

Fantastic new designs and styles of products that have been developed because of LED light sources that previously never existed. View some designs here www.inspired-lighting.co.uk/Modern_LED

Yes. Colour temperature for light bulbs is measured on the Kelvin scale. LED Bulbs come in a variety of colours, but the most common are in a range from 2700K to 6500K. The unfortunate thing is that the only consistent measurement is the Kelvin scale, many manufacturers like to use terms like Daylight, Natural White, Warm White and Cool White, but there is not a standard that defines a Kelvin temperature to associate with those terms. The general rule is Warm (2700K) Natural (4000K) Cool (6000K+). The warmer the light, the more yellow tones, the cooler the light, there are more blue tones. Further item specific details can be found on the product page by clicking on the specification data tab or by downloading the datasheet PDF document which is also located on the product page on our website.

Typically our Luxram LED lamps come with a 3 or 5 year warranty and are based upon a 15.000 - 25,000 hour usage, this is further defined that they are only used for a maximum of 3 hours per day. This does not mean the lamps will fail exactly after 3 years or 25,000hrs but similar to fluorescent they can continue to work but the actual brightness of the lamp start to deteriorate faster.

CRI is Colour Rendering Index. It is a measurement of the quality of light. Whereas lumens is a measurement of the quantity of light, CRI is the measurement of quality. It is a scale between 0 and 100. Where 0 is bad, 100 is great good quality LED's are typically in the 80-95 range.

We have a great choice of double insulated lights. These are highlighted with a class 2 icon on the product page. Quite a lot of older properties built before or during the 1960's may not have an adequate earth cable so you will need to select what are called double insulated lights, which have two layers of insulation built in to protect the live parts. It is possible to have your house re-wired by your electrician but this can be expensive, so the other solution is to select double insulated light fittings. To view all our double insulated fittings please follow the link www.inspired-lighting.co.uk/double insulated

Further item specific details can be found on the product page.

All of our light fittings are supplied with a detailed instruction leaflet. The instruction leaflet can also be viewed or downloaded on the individual product pages. However we do not offer installation advice and we recommend employing a qualified electrician to undertake any electrical lighting installation.

Please wait whilst we process your request.
